Given that this is our inaugural posting I’d like to welcome you to our family and community. We hope to inform, educate and entertain you as we document the progress of our 410-acre sustainable community combining 21st century style with peaceful, pastoral living.
Serosun Farms began as an equestrian center, but through conversation with my sister Jane and I, is growing into something much larger. Concerned about conservation, we are creating a community that preserves open space through limited residential development. Serosun Farms is many things: a farm land preservation project, a conservation project, an equestrian project, a sustainable community, and example of new ruralism – or just a great place to live.
In developing the concept we, have kept in mind our core values and goals: respect the land and the place, respect nature and respect people. We also set a goal of making this a sustainable community and are true believers in the three tenets of sustainability: it must be economically, environmentally and socially sustainable. These goals guide us in developing the concepts and operating principles of Serosun Farms. We’re making a community that has great architecture and style, is a great place to live, and celebrates food and life.
We are proud of our project and hope that you will become part of it as a resident, horseman, connoisseur of good food, volunteer in our programs, a frequent visitor or an observer. Our families, friends and neighbors are a part of Serosun Farms, and that is why this will be a real community. I hope that you will enjoy our journey and our place.
Here at Serosun we have lots to talk about and a lot to say so we are excited to announce that our blog site is now online. It will give us a great place to share information related to the many aspects of Serosun and the things that we care about and a great forum for discussions on many of these topics.
The blog is broken into several categories to help you more easily find the subjects you are interested in. It will include articles from our newsletters, original content and opinions from our team and partners, interesting articles from other sources and collections of great resources such as great websites, books, places to see, recipes, photo albums and more.
We hope you will find it interesting, fun and informative. Please let us know what you think and if there is information or topics you think we should include give us your suggestions.
