It’s an important question to understand as it impacts how we design and build a home, and who we have to help us. It’s also not an easy one to answer. Americans spending on food
In 1960 Americans spend 17.5% of our income on food and 5.2% went towards health care, compare to 9.9% on food and health care on 16% today.
Our baby boomer retirees and Rural America
A 2009 study by the Economic Reserach Service of the US Department of Agriculture predicted that remote US counties will see a dramatic increase in boomer retirees for the next decade. The report predicts that this migration will raise older rural populations by two-thirds by 2020. Retirees are moving to smaller communities for lower costs and quiet neighborhoods.
